The Transforming Urban Underground Infrastructure (TUUI) Collaborative

Nature-Based

Nature-Based Solutions for Improving the Performance and Resilience of Underground Infrastructure

This Activity Group aims to advance nature-based solutions (NBS) for improving the performance, sustainability, and resilience of underground infrastructure systems. The group will bring together interdisciplinary researchers to synthesize existing NBS research, develop shared frameworks and terminology, and identify key knowledge gaps through coordinated literature review and structured discussions. The primary outcome will be a co-authored, peer-reviewed review paper, with a secondary outcome of developing future collaborative proposals to NSF, DOT, and industry partners, aligning closely with TUUI’s mission to support innovative and resilient underground infrastructure solutions.
