Underground Infrastructure Funding & Collaboration Activity Group
This Activity Group (AG) focuses on strategically advancing funding opportunities in underground infrastructure research by establishing a coordinated platform for opportunity identification and collaborative proposal development. The AG will first systematically collect and share relevant funding opportunities from public sources as well as members’ prior experiences (e.g., NSF TIP, WRF, DOT, and related programs). In the second phase, the AG will identify one or several high-potential research themes and form corresponding teams to develop concept papers or full proposals. The group will engage directly with relevant Program Directors to obtain feedback on scope, positioning, and competitiveness, and will share these insights within the group to strengthen proposal alignment. The expected outcome is the development and submission of competitive, collaboratively led proposals, along with the establishment of a sustainable funding coordination mechanism for the underground infrastructure research community.
